Subject: Record piracy in Russia
Date: Tue, 18 Nov 1997 14:21:58 -0600
To: XXXXXXXXX@bigfoot.com

Hello, my name is Brian Turlingtn and I am a law student (I know, I also cringe when I hear it) researching a law journal article on record piracy in Russia. I am extremel;y interested in what this means for Russian groups, and am less interested in the problems Sony encounters with booltlegged Michael Jackson recordings. By way of info, I lived in Prague for 5 years where I managed a band (Deep Sweden) and worked for the leading alternative Czech record label(Rachot records). Anyone with information, leads, contacts on this topic please contact me at bt3111@student.law.duke.edu. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Brian Turlington

Subject: Feelee + Tuva

Hi,

I have heard/seen yesterday evening on a satellit-programm (I guess it was French MCM)a clip from a Tuvan fusion-musiker: he played electric guitar, and was accompanied by shaman-drum and kvmei. I don4t know his name, I can only remember that the song was from a CD released on Feelee label.

Could You help me to find out, who this singer is, what is the title of the CD, and how I can buy it (by post ordre, or by a distributor in Denmark, where I live)? I would much appreciate Your help! Many thanks and the best regards:

George

Subject: Igor Balakirev

Hello, I am from United States and know a St. Petersburg musician . His name is Igor Balakirev, whose great-great uncle or something, was Mily Balakirev, the head of the "Famous Five" composers. He is presently working with a church choir but also is getting gigs. He is singing with one other guy, and they both play guitar. They have a gig on Sept 10, at the Manhatten. Igor was once in a band called "Smirnov" or "Smirnoff" I think and they used to tour in Finland. Igor is 28 years old and is a classically trained musician. He has traveled to United States twice but I haven't seen him in three years. Do you know anything about this musician? Do you know anything about booking Russian musicians in the U.S.?

Sincerely, Cheryl Melancon
