NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--November 3, 1999-- Gromco, Inc - an Internet marketing company running a network of consumer-oriented web sites has announced the launch of Freelance BBS.com - an interactive tool designed to help freelancers and their prospective employers find each other.
"We were thinking of a site like this for a while," says Colin Crowley, gromco's CEO. "Many of our friends are young entrepreneurs involved in web design and production. We know how difficult it is for them to find qualified freelancers for a project, especially one with a tight deadline. On the other hand, most freelancers spend lots of their time finding each new project. I think, there's an obvious demand here."

It's tough creating the specialized teams we need to accomplish the variety of projects we take on. With the new site, Gromco has simplified the process and made it more straightforward for both companies and freelance workers. Freelancers can post their resumes specifying their skills, background, experience, availability date, rates, and the type of projects they are looking for. Companies, in turn, can announce particular projects and state their requirements. Both parties are able to manage their listings and modify them, if necessary, via a password-protected interface.
"The current incarnation of the site is pretty simple," continues Crowley. "It's basically a glorified bulletin board with a few extra bells and whistles."
The list of "bells and whistles" will grow quickly. Among other features, gromco plans to add discussion boards for both freelancers and companies where issues relating to freelance employment can be discussed. Other features may be added to complement the bulletin board as the database pool grows. Gromco promises to keep the bulletin interface simple and uncluttered.
Freelance BBS.com joins the growing network of popular gromco sites which already includes Roommate BBS, Credit Card Menu.com and Energy Menu.com.
