Company Press Release

Consumers and Businesses Can Now Request DSL Service Proposals from National and Regional Internet Service Providers (ISP) on ISP Menu.com

Consumers and businesses can now request DSL service proposals from national and regional Internet Service Providers (ISP) on-line, using ISP Menu.com. This involves a simple process of posting your connectivity needs, desires and budget limitations on the site, and then waiting for responses from interested ISP's. These responses of service offerings are "posted" to personal extranet pages where consumers and businesses can log in and review proposals and profiles of the ISP's who submitted them. An email notification is sent out when an ISP has submitted a proposal. The three largest competitive local exchange carriers offering DSL are represented on ISP Menu through participating ISP's.

As part of Gromco's push to make ISP Menu an unbiased tool for finding internet service, local ISP's can, and are encouraged to, request to be listed. On ISP Menu, local ISP's have the same exposure as national ISP's, and are given access to their own extranet to set up their product offerings in.

According to Colin Crowley of Gromco, "DSL service is not your typical consumer product. Because data is transmitted digitally over copper telephone lines at high speeds, DSL availability depends upon the distance from the central office, the condition of the telephone line and whether or not DSL equipment has been installed into that central office. Therefore, a customer who is 2 miles from the central office may be able to order a DSL speed of 768K, while the highest speed available for a customer 3.5 miles from the same central office is 144K. This is a complex product and that is why our site has the value that it does."

ISP Menu.com helps businesses and consumers research the following questions:
  • What is DSL, ISDN and dial-up?
  • Is DSL available for me?
  • What speeds do I qualify for?
  • How much will the service cost?
  • Who is the company offering me service?
Gromco provides an excellent "learn" section that is straightforward and clear to help explain these types of issues as well as the terminology and lingo. There are also discussion boards for users to post questions that may not have been answered by the information the site provides, and to post comments about ISP experiences as an aid to others.
