* December 24, 1996 ---- Nogu Svelo to record indecent songs
"Nogu Svelo" have finished recording songs for their two new albums. One of them, "Happy because I am pregnant" is now being mastered. A tentative date of release - next February. The musicians still haven't decided which label they will go with. It turns out that the band is seriously considering recording a whole album of indecent songs. Apparently, there's no lack of such material in NS's repertoir.

* November 19, 1996 ---- NOM presents new album.
St.Petersburg band NOM (Informal Youth Union) presented their new album "Vo imja razuma" (For the sake of common sense) at "Ne bei kopytom" club. This presentation was also a celebration of the club's 3d annivesary. Theoretically, the party was "closed", that is only journalists and friends were supposed to be admitted, but some confusion at the entrance resulted in free admission for everyone who happened to be there. Moreover, the guests could entertain themselves with free snacks while waiting for the press conference.. Eventually, NOM appeared at 22:00 and played some new songs, some old songs, all followed by a theater performance featuring light and sound effects, dialogs, fights and so on.

* May 19, 1996 ---- Dzhem change their line-up
    St.Petersburg indie-pop band Dzhem has changed 50% of their line-up. Although the guitarist's position is still available, chances are it will be taken by a well-known guitarist Vitalik (ex-Never Trust Hippie, also of S.P.O.R.T.). Saxophonist Boris Gernstein has decided to pursue a non-musical career. The third person to leave was keyboardist Volodya.

* March 31, 1996 ---- Agata Christie's new album
    A.C. have released a CD entitled "Agatha Christie : 5 years". Such a title kind of suggests that it features their best hits recorded during this period. However, it appears to be a LIVE album recorded on Feb 20, 1993 in Ekaterinburg... So, don't get confused.

* March 16, 1996 ---- Katjushu prikryli
    "Katjusha" radio station, one of the most "radical" stations in St.Petersburg has closed (at least, stopped broadcasting). Some sources tell it just went bankrupt. "Katjusha"'s frequency has been promptly occupied by another station, "Eldorado" which broadcasts quite different music.

* February, 11 1996 ---- Nora, 2 Samoleta and .. Griboedov
    According to informed sources, Nora club (St.Petersburg) has been closed for some time (or may be even for good). Dva Samoleta seem to have problems with renting the space. The good news is that they are going to open another club shortly. The new one will be named "Griboedov" which may be treated quite ambigously. (Remember Kuryokhin's theories ?)

* January, 3 1996 ----- Jugendshtil : first compilation.
    The first compilation of this St.Petersburg band is now available (unfortunately,only on cassettes) for general public. The album named simply "Jugendshtil" includes songs dated back 1990-1993 thus pretending to be the first milestone of the band's history. All songs (inspite of when they were actually composed) have been recorded just recently, so it might be interesting to check out new versions of old hits. Overall, as Leonid Fomin ("RockFuzz") said, this album closes the first wave of Piter's "indie" music in general, and so-called "TamTam Generation" in particular... As any historically significant thing, it's probably worth checking out.
