Gromco's mission is to create web-based tools for finding and selecting products and services
in large cities.
Our current site line-up includes:
- NY Bits - a guide to
residential real estate in New York City. This web site contains the
most complete (to the best of our knowledge)
directory of rental
buildings in New York City. Hundreds of building profiles and
photos.
- Montreal Bits -
Montreal Bits helps city newcomers as well as current residents
of Montreal find a great place to live.
as well as
- Site Bits - an international
travel guide for the culturally-curious traveler.
- Freelance BBS -
a service connecting freelancers in various metro areas with project managers.

The past --
In 1996, Gromco started out as a project to experiment with Internet applications in various areas.
The founders' varied interests produced an extensive list of ideas: from remote tutoring to
niche entertainment to an e-commerce project for selling sneakers on the web.
However, it was the tedious personal and business decisions encountered
by each of the founders in their respective places of residence that led to the common vision
of developing extremely practical sites to address the needs of people living in large
metropolitan areas.
The present --
NY Bits (formerly
"Sitebits - New York") began as a way for one of our team members to organize his apartment-hunting
bookmarks and quickly grew into a full-fledged
New York City residential real estate
guide, focusing on the needs of renters and those who have
recently moved into the city.
Inspired by the success of NY Bits, Gromco launched a similar site about
Montreal, Montreal Bits.

Our core team is very small.
We have worked together for many years and we love what we do.

Our company's name is an abbreviation of the motto that
we came up with on launching our very first project in 1996
- "Get Rid
Of
Mental Contamination!"
Although this sounds a bit sophomoric today
(especially now that we are a decade and a half older), we feel that it's
more relevant than ever. We approach complex problems and try to
dissect and organize the ocean of available information to present the user
with what's truly necessary for solving the task at hand.
